Interior wfc v Glasgow girls
Scottish women’s football club Glasgow girls fc squared up against the current national league champions for their 3rd match of the football tour to The Gambia.
A crowd of around 1500 turned out to watch the game which is being used to promote women’s football and inspire people to get involved. The game followed an international training camp held at the national technical centre the day before. The seminar, sponsored by Adventure Kicks, was used to promote cross collaboration between Gambia and Glasgow girls fc and its hoped this will lead to similar programmes at the association level.
It was a much cooler day and with a later kick off this clearly helped Glasgow girls to play a style of football they’ve used in Scotland to win the domestic league. After a closely fought first half the game remained at 0-0, despite the visitors having a ball cleared off the line and a shot tipped onto the bar by Interiors goal keeper.
Both teams came out in the second half looking to be positive. Both sides created chances but Glasgow girls had the better of these and took the lions share of possession. Interior however, were strong on the break meaning Glasgow girls had to be aware, taking a deeper defensive line. With 5 minutes left Glasgow girls pushed 3 up top as they chased the victory but the game finished goalless.
